Donald R. Hawkins, son of Glen and Eliene Hawkins, was born May 18, 1937, in Kingman, KS. and passed at his home in Wichita, KS, August 12, 2026, after a brief illness. He attended grade and high school in Kingman, later, Hutchinson Community College, Wichita Barber School and Wichita Technical Institute. He barbered in Kingman for a few years then spent the remainder of his career as an electronics technician in private business and with Sears Co. On July 19, 1959, he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Eileen Fieser Hawkins, at the United Methodist Church in Norwich, KS.

As a young boy, Don was active in scouting and later when he had sons, was a Cub and Scout leader. Active in the community, he was a founding member of Optimist Club in Kingman, was a member of Lions Club, Scottish Rite Mason, Master Mason and life member of Ninnescah Lodge #230.  He was a member of the United Methodist Church serving on numerous national and international work teams.  He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. His hobbies were researching ancestry and woodworking.

Surviving family members include his wife of 67 years, Eileen; sons, Bruce (Linda) Hawkins, Brent (Kim) Hawkins; three grandsons, Dylan, Brady and Jordan; many special nieces, nephews and cousins.  Don was a caring and loving husband, father, papa, uncle and friend. He wanted only the best for his family. Preceding him in death were his parents and stepmother Thelma.

Visitation will be 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Friday, August 21, 2026, at Downing & Lahey West Mortuary. Memorial service will be 10:00 am, Saturday, August 22, 2026, at First United Methodist Church. Services will be live streamed through the church’s YouTube page.
