Maura Geist

Maura Geist, 84, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and woman of deep faith, passed away on August 30, 2026.

Maura was born May 17, 1942, in Wichita, Kansas, to Mary and Howard Lynch. She attended St. Mary’s High School, where she was a cheerleader for Kapaun, and later attended Wichita State University. It was there that she met her future husband, Bob Geist, on a blind date. They went on to share 61 years of marriage, and a life centered around faith and family.

A devout Catholic, Maura generously supported many Catholic organizations and lived her faith through kindness and love for others. She treasured her family and especially enjoyed supporting her children and grandchildren in their sports, activities, and accomplishments. Her beautiful table settings and the care she put into holiday gatherings will remain a cherished family memory.

Maura was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Mary Lynch; sisters, Frances Puetz and Sharon Wilson; and brother, David Lynch.

She is survived by her husband, Bob Geist; daughters, Mary Lou (Trent) McKenzie and Kara (Lucas) Lizotte; sons, Ron (Kara) Geist and Mark (Shawna) Geist; 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Maura touched many lives. She will be deeply missed, and the love she gave so freely will live on through her family and friends.

A Rosary will be held on Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM at St. Paul Catholic Church located at Wichita State University.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 4 at 10:00am at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
