Carlota Adele Quintana Weathersby, beloved Mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 97on September 12, 2026.
Carlota, known to all as Leta, was born on November 4,1928 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She attended grade school and high school in Bartlesville and was part of a very large, loving, close-knit family. Leta met the love her life, Thomas Andre Weathersby in 1951 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Tom served in the Korean War, they were married on March 4th, 1953, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Bartlesville. After they married, they moved for Tom’s college education and career to New Orleans, St. Louis, Oklahoma City, and Hays, Kansas before settling in Wichita, Kansas. They were blessed with four daughters, and so many amazing family members and friends. Leta was a wonderful seamstress and sewed clothes for her daughters. She made a beautiful lace tablecloth that was used for all four daughters’ weddings and now is being used for her grandchildren’s weddings. Tom and Leta enjoyed traveling! There were many trips to visit family and friends across the country, including family trips to Colorado and New Mexico. Leta continued to travel after Tom passed away, traveling to DC, London, Rome, Paris, and Scotland. She enjoyed many trips with Village Travel with good friend Helen Peare.
Leta’s first job was as a telephone operator in Bartlesville, and she worked at the William B Reilly Coffee Company in New Orleans. After their daughters were born, Leta’s life centered around cherished family and friends. She had a wide circle of friends that she stayed in contact with, high school friends, lifelong friends from New Orleans, OKC, Hays, the pharmaceutical society and many cherished friends from St. Maragaret Mary and Larkin Dr.
Leta was a faithful member of St. Margaret Mary parish for over sixty years, and she volunteered in many capacities. Leta enjoyed being an active member of the Altar Society, singing in the choir, cooking at the church’s annual Mexican Dinner, and in her later years, singing with Harvest House and volunteering at the Lord’s Diner.
Leta will be remembered for her fun-loving personality. She was proud of her Oklahoma roots and being part of a large Mexican family. Her Catholic faith and family were at the center of her life and she loved being a grandmother to her 12 grandchildren. She was a great cook, had great style, always wearing the latest fashion, had beautiful flowers in her garden and had a home that was welcoming for family and friends.

Condolences to Stephanie and family.
Such fond and happy memories of the Larkin Drive days. I remember the fun times playing , the block get togethers. There always seemed to be activities to participate in or watch. May she rest in peace.
Such a lovely lady, always enjoyed talking with her after Mass at St. Margaret Mary. You all are in our prayers 🙏
