Judy Ann Gomez, 77 years old, was born March 6, 1949, in Ottawa, Kansas, passed away October 16, 2026, in Wichita, Kansas.
Judy was a wonderful woman with a heart of gold. An angel here on earth! She loved family, which was the number one priority of her existence. She was full of life. She loved family get-togethers in her backyard, preparing lots of food, and fun. She devoted her life to pleasing and caring for others first, no matter who you were. Her outlook was simple but always joyous. One of her many sayings was, “don’t worry, be happy”, and that always stuck. Another was, “Love you darling, to the moon and back.” If a smile said it all, it was hers. It was intoxicating and heart-warming. There is no other way to describe it other than to experience it. The old saying that, “if you smile at the world, the world will smile back at you” was Judy, and you felt it.
Judy was a loving, loyal, hard-working and caring wife as well as mother and grandmother. She was a wonderful cook and loved to bake cookies and cakes. You needn’t ask, and she was ready to do either one. In addition, she touched many with her selfless contributions to the public school system, the swim club, athletics, and beyond.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents Gail and Amy Harris. Judy is survived by her husband Al of 55 years, her five children Ivan (Violette), Anna, April (Travis), Owen (Kelsie), and Ethan (Ashleigh), and nine lovely grandchildren, Micah, Eddy, Ayla, Camden, Tyson, Cali, Bryn, Sloane, and Blythe. Judy also leaves behind four siblings, Leo (Debbie), Mike (Connie), Suzanne (Roger), and Douglas.
Judy’s celebration of life will take place in a private family-only ceremony per her wishes. We will miss her dearly, but know that her legacy will live onward through her children, grandchildren and many others that she touched throughout her life. In lieu of flowers, donations on Judy’s behalf can be made to the Wichita Children’s Home, PBS Kansas, and National Public Radio.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 – Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
1 John 3:18 – Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.
1 John 4:16 – So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.

Memories, are beautiful. I’ll never forget the first time I saw Judy, this little tiny woman with a big beautiful smile and a baby on her hip (Ethan)!! Our daughter Angela was in kindergarten at the time. By then Judy was an old pro at being part of a PTA, which I gladly became a part of. We became friends, from then on!! My son’s became friends with her sons!! Angie and April became friends!! We ate Judy’s cookies, and the boys always were asking me to make, Judy’s cookies!!!! I still have the recipe and we’ll use it always. She also made the best fudge!!! We also have a few of her beautiful dresses that she made for Angela in high school. I still have them hanging in the basement.I will miss you, dear friend. Until we meet again.
