Nicholas Ryan “Nick” Kaufman, 46, loving husband, father, son, brother, friend, and family member to so many, passed away on October 20, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Nick was born on April 17, 1980, at Wesley Hospital in Wichita, Kansas, and from the beginning carried a quiet strength and steady presence that shaped every part of his life.
Nick was diagnosed with cancer in May 2025, and he faced his illness with determination, grit, and unwavering faith. He fought hard, every single day, and did so with his family at the center of his purpose. Though his battle was long and difficult, Nick is now without pain, without disease, and home with the Lord.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award me on that day…” — 2 Timothy 4:8
Nick was a devoted husband to Amanda Kaufman and a proud father to Lucas, Payton, and Cadynce. His love for his children was deep and constant, and he poured his heart into being the kind of father they could always rely on. Always by his side through life’s triumphs and trials, were his loyal dogs, Gunner and Booker, who were Nick’s best friends and constant companions.
He is survived by his parents, Karen Kaufman and Doug & Jolene Kaufman; and by his siblings: Megan Westman (Nik Westman), Lindsay Iuen (Bobby Turner), Jason Iuen (Maria Iuen), and Tiffany Warren (Lance Warren). Nick also had many nieces and nephews who brightened his world with their presence and brought him joy throughout his life.
Nick was surrounded by a large and loving extended family to include his aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and countless friends, each of whom held a special place in his heart and loved him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents Margaret & William Connor, Doris & Duane Kaufman, and Jean & Leland Stotts.
Nick’s passions were a reflection of his personality: loyal, bold, and full of heart. He loved the University of Kansas and cheered on the Jayhawks with pride. He enjoyed guns and the craftsmanship behind them, and he appreciated a good bourbon shared in good company. These simple joys brought him comfort, connection, and moments of happiness throughout his life.
