James Allen Williams (Allen) was born to James Leonard Williams and Dorothy Lucille Williams near Holden, Missouri, on March 28, 1942. He grew up on the farm in Missouri until high school, when the family moved to Fort Morgan, Colorado. He graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1960.
He was drafted into the Army in 1964 and stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana, for Basic Training. He was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, for 2 years during the Vietnam War but never went to war.
His parents had moved to Boulder, Colorado. After he was discharged, he lived with them. He drove a taxi for the City of Boulder until he worked at Hollister Dodge Motors as an auto mechanic for 22 years. He then worked at Porter Hospital in Denver, Colorado, as an A/C and refrigeration maintenance technician for another 20 years. After retiring from the hospital, he worked 10 years at the Weld County GMC Dealership, in the Fleet Department, transporting cars from around the United States back to the dealership.
Allen married Nancy Mae Farmer on June 27, 1969. They were married for 57 years and had three children: Angela Marie (Chris Deck) in January 1972, Michael Allen (Alison Pena) in April 1976, and Cheryl Ann (Jeffrey Smith) in December 1982. They also have 14 grandchildren: Samuel and Averee, Katherine, Elias, and Emma Deck; Marissia and Natalie Carrillo, Marcus Pena, Connor and Zoe Williams; and Jeremiah, Cassidy, Jameson, and Jacoby Smith.
Allen and Nancy lived in Boulder, Colorado, from 1969 to 1977. They moved to Lafayette, Colorado, where they lived for 42 years. In August 2020, they moved to Wichita, Kansas, to be close to Angela. There, Allen lived with Nancy until October 2026.
Allen’s parents always took him and his little brother, John, to church. When he was 9 years old, Allen asked Jesus to come into his heart at a revival meeting. At Mountain View Southern Baptist Church in Lafayette, Colorado, he was an Usher, a member of the Audio Team, and a Deacon. He also served on the Van Committee at both Mountain View and East Boulder Baptist Church in Boulder, Colorado. At East Boulder Baptist Church, he was on the Baptismal Committee and an Usher.
Allen liked to fish, watch NASCAR, and attend tractor/truck pulls. He drove jeeps, ATVs, and dune buggies. He also liked to geocache and travel all over the United States.
Allen’s parents, Leonard and Dorothy Williams, and his brother, John, preceded him in death. He leaves behind his wife and children, grandchildren, extended family from Colorado, Arizona, Texas, and Missouri, and many friends.
