Pam West, 74, died October 29, 2026.

Vigil will be at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 3, 2026, Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 4, 2026, both at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Pamela is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Mary Ann Blue; siblings, Yvonne Beck, and Kenneth Blue. She is survived by her husband, Stephen; daughters, Amy (Matthew) Martin, Nikki (Jeremy) Parks, Kelly (Kevin) Mooney, Julianna (Jerod) Eller; siblings, Stephen (Donna) Blue, Ralph (Shelia) Blue, John Blue; and thirteen grandchildren.

Pam was married for 52 years to Stephen and together they had 4 daughters and 13 grandchildren, plus one in heaven, and one great grandchild on the way.

Pam worked at Via Christi St Francis in Environmental Services for many years, she also worked at the Kansas Masonic Home, but it was her years spent at the Dairy Queen at 31st and Seneca that are perhaps the most central to her life. The Dairy Queen was a family-owned business and a place fondly remembered by so many family members and friends.  It was a place people actually loved working!  Pam, her best friend and sister Yvonne, and their brothers all spent time working there, they were all well known and loved by the patrons and co-workers. In fact, the Dairy Queen was also where she met and fell in love with her husband, Steve.

Pam was a dedicated steward to St. Joseph Parish where her 4 daughters attended school.  She cleaned the church, cooked for the priests and cleaned the rectory. Pam, her sister, Yvonne and a fun crew of other parishioners and friends ran the drive-thru at the parish dinner for many years.

One of Pam’s most endearing personality traits was her childlike-ness.  She believed in the goodness of people, was loyal to her friends and family, got excited about the little joys in life, was faithful to the end, and trusted the Lord.

She loved the simple things, going for a swim at the Y, cheering for her grandkids at their games and events, watching the Chiefs and the Royals, going to the casino with Steve, reading, watching old movies, drinking a Dr. Pepper, sleeping in, shopping for great bargains, telling stories and reminiscing about the good ole days.

Mema loved being with her grandchildren. She always said it gave her more energy to be with them and it kept her healthy and moving.  In fact, she’d try to ignore her pain so that she could see them more. She had the most beautiful eyes, people always remarked on them. And truly, they twinkled when she smiled.

Pam loved to talk just as much as she loved to listen. Whether sharing a story, offering advice, lending an ear, or simply checking in, she had a special way of making people feel important, valued, and loved. She never met a stranger, and would stop in conversation with people at the grocery store, or while getting gas!  To so many, she became more than a friend or coworker — she became like a second mother. Recently, because of her health, she spent a lot of time as a patient at Via Christi St. Francis where she used to work.  Countless former employees stopped in to see her and all of them expressed how much they loved working with her.

Those who knew her will forever remember her familiar words, “I love you more.” It was more than just a catchphrase; it was her way of reminding those she loved that her heart was always full of love for them, even more than yesterday or the last time she saw you.

She will be missed more than we can say, more than we can imagine, but we trust in God’s goodness and know that He is holding her now as always.

    • I wa so blessed to have pam as my coordinator at st.francis in transportation. She became a wonderful friend 🧡 always so kind to me and loved my family. I will truly miss her dearly. My heart was sad to here this news. Velena Hamilton

  1. Pam was just the sweetest person, and a dear friend of 60+ years to my sister Rhonda. Whether it was back in the day at Dairy Queen or all the years with my sister’s and wife playing Pitch, she always had time for a nice chat, and a kind way of making you feel good.

  2. Pam and Steve West were two of the kindest people in my life as a child. I grew up playing sports and in friendship with their oldest daughter, Amy. I spent countless nights at their home and traveled with them to ball tournaments, etc. They understood what it meant to be part of a village.

As they raised their family in the 1970s and ’80s, their lives were rooted in faith, church, and community. They extended that same care to my mother and me. My mom was a single mother of four girls who worked tirelessly to keep food on our table. Pam and Steve supported us through our small school, took us to games, and, I’m sure, gave my mom the comfort of knowing there were extra caring eyes looking out for me. So many memories I have with their family that I cherish and think of often.

Pam will always hold a special place in my heart for the kindness and care she gave. I have no doubt that her many acts of kindness reflected the deep faith she lived by. May she rest in peace.

My deepest condolences to Steve, Amy, Niki, Kelly, and Julianna.

  4. I have memories of Pam as a sweet mother to one of my grade school friends & was lucky to run into her so many times in my adult career while I worked at St. Francis. She always made me smile, I really enjoyed chatting & catching up with her in the halls.
Your family is in my thoughts & prayers,
    Melanie Stallbaumer
