Mary Lue (Winter) Koenigs, the last of her generation, passed peacefully in Kansas City from complications of dementia.
Mary Lue was the ninth and youngest child of Albert and Josephine (Wetta) Winter growing up on their farm in Andale. She moved to the town of Andale for high school where she graduated as the valedictorian of her class. At a wedding dance in Colwich she caught the eye of a young engineer named Gene; they were married for 60 years and raised 4 children in Wichita although she was always proud of her Andale roots. Mary Lue enjoyed meeting new people, traveling, hosting, gardening, decorating and laughing. She was also an accomplished seamstress and cook. Her annual Christmas tree was a marvel.
She was preceded by her parents, her husband, Eugene Koenigs, her daughter, Paula, and all of her siblings. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Ken (Laura), Chris and Carla Feller (Mike) and her 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
A rosary will be said at 9:30 am on Tuesday, November 10th, 2026, followed at 10:00 am by a funeral mass, both at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton church in Wichita with burial to follow at St. Anthony’s parish cemetery in Garden Plain at 1:00 pm.
