McClure, Allison (Al) Churchill, 96, of Wichita, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather died Friday, October 8, 2010. A retired theater owner, he was born December 4, 1913, in Dodge City, Kansas. He graduated high school from St Johns Military Academy in Salina, Kansas. He attended Kansas University where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He graduated from KU in 1936 with a Business Degree in Economics. That was also the year he married the great love of his life, Margaret Pyle. He managed motion picture theaters for Fox Midwest until he was called to serve his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the War he built the Pawnee, Westport and Landmark Drive-In-Theaters in Wichita. A gifted athlete he was an avid golfer until 92 years old and was proud of his four certified holes in one. He was a lifelong fan and supporter of KU basketball. He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Beatrice McClure and his brother Harry McClure, Jr. He will be lovingly missed by his wife Margaret, daughters Janis Cooper and Cathie McClure, grandchildren Brian Cooper (Kristi) of Lake Jackson, TX, Aubrey Haley(Sean), Allison Hazen(Heath) of Mulvane, Laurel Lewis, and seven great-grandchildren.
