Please accept our deepest condolences for your family’s loss.
Jereta and family, So sorry to here about your loss. We pray for your family to have strength during this time. We all have good memories with your family. You did alot for the teens as I was growing up and appriciated all you did for us and others. Art will be dearly missed.
As I sat in the memorial Service for Art this morning, I tried to remember what my best memory or story was. I was an implant to Westlink C of C. I first got involved with Art and Jereta @ the 9th grade. I remember Art was the Elder who was over the young Adults when I was a member there. I also was involved with helping the babies in Sunday School with Jereta. I think the biggest Joy for me was that Art and Jereta were very proud of me for graduating from high school and going on to college. Also for who I had become and where I was going with my life. We had many parties at Judith and Russell home and the X-mas exchange that took place one year. Art had brought game, and it wasn’t any big game, but it was the game that kept getting taken over and over, I never can remember who took that game, but it was a blast. Than there was the Time that Arthur Beatty made me a half man, with pants, boots and put it all together, Whitney and I took it over to Dales House and put it under the car, and Art pulled up, and said what arer you two girls doing, we responded with nothing. I am not sure where that half man is, or if they ever knew that Whitney and I had done that. But Art knew and still funny to this day. That half man got alot of miles of use. I also remember getting candy from Art on Sunday morning, the strawberry candy. To this day, when I see that candy and I will always remember Art. I so miss him, and was a jewel he was. I am sure one of my hardest lessons learned is that I lost my job at AAA Travel for standing up regarding a statement that was made regarding Art. Jereta and Art came right over, and it was the first job I had ever lost. Many bridges have been crossed sicne that time, but I still looked up to both of them, even though time and years have seperated us. Jereta I wish you many long happy memories and a peaceful next few days. My prayers go out to your whole family at this time. Lisa Brown 2919 Sumac North Newton, Kansas 67117 31-217-4201
Saddened to learn of Art,s passing; he was a good man and is now in a better place. I enjoyed knowing Art for the last 35 years and working with him on the Mission team, as well as other projects at Westlink. John Pryor
Jereta and Family I just wanted you to know that I have been thinking of you all during your time of loss. I will never forget that every Sunday morning was a chance to get a piece of candy from the candy man. What a great man her was and finally he will no longer suffer. God Bless you all.
Our thoughts and prayers to the family of Art Skykes from the late Bernetta Gorges family(former housekeeper).
