Barbara “Barb” Ann Alexander Selby was born October 6, 1943, in Ellsworth, KS. She passed away Thursday, October 17th, 2024, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Barb grew up in Geneseo, KS and graduated high school in Hoisington, KS. She attended Emporia State University and earned an associate degree allowing her to work as an X-ray technician. Barb married Larry Selby on August 24, 1963, in Emporia, KS. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2023 with a family party right before Larry was called home. They moved to Wichita in 1964 and started a family. She stayed home to raise her three sons and was an amazing mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. Barb and Larry were active members of the Wichita Early Ford V-8 Club and went on many fun trips with the club and made many long-lasting friendships. They were also longstanding members of Metropolitan Baptist Church and valued their church family dearly. She was known for her love of cooking, baking, gardening, and of red birds. Barb is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Selby; her parents, Earl and Margaret Alexander; her brother, Mike; and her son, Darin. She is survived by sons, Derick (Terri) Selby, Jason (Traci) Selby; grandchildren, David (Erin) Janke, Chase (Kristen) Selby, Nathan, and Jillian Virgin; 4 great-grandchildren; and sister, Susan Stockstill. Visitation, 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, Memorial Services will be 2:00 pm, both on Friday, November 1st, 2024, at Downing & Lahey West Mortuary. In lieu of flowers memorials can be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O.
