Clifton Wayne Gillenwater, 94, retired banker and United States Air Force veteran, died Tuesday, November 15, 2022. Funeral Service will be at 3:00 pm, Sunday, November 20, 2022, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Graveside service will be 10:00 am, Monday, November 21, 2022, at Resthaven Cemetery. Preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Gillenwater; parents, Elmer and Mae Gillenwater; brothers, Thurston, Rolland, Maurice, E. M., Jr. Survived by his sons, Jeffrey Gillenwater of Cocoa Beach, FL, David (Marsha) Gillenwater of Great Bend, KS; daughter, Kathryn (Jeff) Speed of Fairfield, CT; grandchildren, Tyler Speed, Zachery Speed, Andrew Speed, Alexis Vanasse, James Vanasse, Blake (Julie) Miller; great-grandchildren, Jackson Vanasse, Anna Vanasse, Addison Hackworth, Luke Miller, Mabel Miller; Caregiver, Deena Carriker. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with: Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 600 N. Greenwich Rd., Wichita, KS 67206. Services in care of Downing & Lahey Mortuary - East Chapel.

  1. Jeff, I am sorry that I was not able to join your family yesterday, as we were out of town. Both of your parents were very special to me. Your mom, as one of my teachers at Southeast, who encouraged me towards my accounting degree. Your dad was a mentor of mine as I began my time as business manager at Holy Cross. He provided much guidance and was a wonderful role model, as a Christian in a business world. We rejoice with you and David & Kathryn, as we know that their faith in Christ has joined them together in heaven. Kent Hoyer
