I married Pedro’s youngest daughter Anna Means. Pedro was always welcoming to me, and he and I shared many great moments together usually situated around doing a project together that I thought would take a couple hours but 5 or 6 hours later it was apparent if we were doing a job we were doing it right and completely. Even in his later battles with his cancer he would be down on the ground digging dirt out, nothing would stop the man from doing the work he loved to do. My father passed away in 2023, and Pedro was my only dad for the last 2 and a half years. I hope everyone gets a father in law like I got. A great man, with something always funny to say, and would be there to help you at the a drop of a hat. He will be remembered as that funny hard working man who always wore a short sleeve white button up, and blue jeans and an auction ballcap or his brimmed hats he loved to wear.
D. L. “Pedro” Means, 67, died Sunday, April 12, 2026, following a courageous 9+ year battle with prostate cancer. Rosary will be at 7:00pm, Thursday, April 16, 2026. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00am, Friday, April 17, 2026, both at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Pedro was known for his resilience, humor, and unmistakable presence. In 1995, he found his calling as an auctioneer, where his quick wit and natural ability to connect with people made him well known. Pedro had a passion for buying and selling. Whether it was scrap metal, garage sale finds, or auctions, he was always searching for the next good deal. He found joy in the hunt and the conversations that came with it, often calling family to compare finds or share what he had come across.
He especially cherished time spent with his grandchildren and could often be found at their sporting events and activities, cheering them on. He also took pride in helping others, often giving family and friends opportunities to work alongside him on various projects and jobs.
Preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Shirley Means; mother, Mary Dvorak Simmon; brother, Rick Means. Survived by his wife, Reneé Y. Means; children, Keith (Susanne) Means, Craig (Carla) Means, Chereé (Adam) Hirsch, Anna (Matt) Hollowell; grandchildren, Rosalia and Lillian Means, Edgar, Amelia, and Malcolm Means, Irving Hirsch, Alla Hollowell; stepbrothers, Kenny (Joan) Walters, and Mike (Carolyn) Walters.

Dave and I met after I married his cousin and we lived next door to Uncle Roy and Aunt Shirley. We became close friends and would even introduce each other as brother and sister. I don’t think we ever corrected that to anyone. I am going to miss the phone calls with him telling me something his children or grandchildren had accomplished. I will especially miss the text messages with his “dad jokes”. His will to live amazed me and his fight was incredible. His wit and ornery smile will always be remembered.
