Darlene E. Burke-Lofgren

Burke, Darlene E. (Lofgren), 82, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2013. Rosary is 6:00 pm Friday, at Downing and Lahey East Mortuary and Funeral Mass is 9:30 am Saturday, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Darlene was born January 18, 1931 in Bison, KS to Milton and Rachel Miller. She left the family farm in 1949 and moved to the city where she was the Shutter Bug Beauty Queen. Darlene worked at Standard Liquor, University of KS and Haskell Indian College. She loved life, especially her family, friends, and the people she met at Georgetown Village. She enjoyed playing bridge, bingo, dancing and other activities. Always in motion, everyone was attracted by her wit, smiles, beauty and a passion for cooking. We will miss you. Darlene is preceded in death by her first husband Richard Burke; parents, Milton and Rachel Miller and second husband John Lofgren. Survivors include her son, Shanan D. Burke; grandchildren, Richard, Brian, Marie, Grace and Hannah Burke; brothers, Virgil, Everet; sisters; Elila Glasco and Romona Opencar.
