Guestbook

  1. Before retiring and moving to Baltimore, MD I was the business manager of the ‘old’ Church of the Magdalen. I met Fr Dave when he was a brand new Priest. Through a mutual friend, Nancy, I knew that he was very ill, and have kept him in my prayers. I will always remember Fr Dave as a great Priest, a great friend, and a great man. I read a quote recently: ‘We have not lost Father Dave, we know where he is.’ May God be with each of you in your grief.

  2. Wayne and Luella, Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at the time of your loss. Fr. Dave will alway be remembered and never forgotten. God bless your family.

  3. I want to say that I’m so sorry for your loss. I pray that the Lord comfort you all. David was a good Friend of mine,I knew Him when I worked at Wesley Hospital about 12 years ago. He was such a Blessing to everyone He met. I wish you all the best. God Bless You! Kelly Epp (He knew me as Kelly Moore)

  4. Mr.& Mrs.Linnebur&Family, I extend to you all my deepest sympathy at the passing of your beoved son,Father David, to eternal life. I was a classmate of Fr. Dave’s from the MOUNT. He was a fine man who was admired by all. I will have a Mass offerred for his soul. May your faith and trust in the Good Lord sustain you in this ‘hour of your sorrow’. May Fr. Dave rest now in the Peace of Christ.

  5. Many of us in the Fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous, as well as the greater recovering community here in Wichita, owe much to Father Dave. He always made time for anyone who was struggling, or needed an ear. He was a joy filled presence in meetings and never put himself above anyone, usually he was just ‘Dave’– alcoholic. The recovering community will miss his warmth and humanity and we will carry him with us in our hearts forever.

  6. Dear Wayne, Luella & Linnebur Family: I am heartbroken to learn of the passing of Father Dave. I consider him my best friend ever since our days at Mount Saint Mary Semnary, Emmitsburg, MD. He was a fine man and great priest. The Church in Wichita and all who knew and loved him suffer a great loss. I have prepared a Memorial Tribute to Father Dave on my personal website http://www.fatherthomassmith.org I join you and all in prayer for his repose soul. He lived well, served God faithfully, carried his crosses with dignity and died in the peace and the love of God, his beloved parents, brothers & sisters and friends. May his priestly soul rest in the eternal peace of Jesus Christ, the High Priest. With deepest sympathies,my love and prayers always, Father Thomas J. Smith Class ’82 Mt St Mary Semnary Diocese of Norwich, Connecticut PS: I visited your lovely home a few years after ordination. Father Clifford Krammer and I spent a few days with Father Dave while you were vacationing. I remeber that trip fondly. I was also asked by Father Fave to preach at his 26th Silver Jubilee of Ordination veremony last May. I regret due the diagnosis of his illness at that time prevented the celebration of the Jubilee. I too undergone an opperation that summer….Dave passed away on the one year anniversary of that surgery…August 8th.

  10. Wayne and Luella and family, my sincere sympathy on your loss, I guess God wanted him more. Your strength is a consolation to all who suffer and have suffered a similar loss. I will continue to pray for your family in this time of grief.

  15. Uncle Wayne, Aunt Luella, and all: I just wanted to express my deepest condolences to all of you over Fr. Dave’s passing. I am sorry that I am not able to attend his funeral. Steve and I had discussed going together (he lives about 45 minutes from me); but my children start school this week, and I didn’t see how I could make it work. Please know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers. Much love to all of you … ‘But when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy victory? O death, where is thy sting? The sting of death is sin; and the power of sin is the law: but thanks be to God, who giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Wherefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not vain in the Lord.’ (1 Cor. 15:54-58)

  16. Father Linnebur and I met when he was pastor at the St. Paul Newman Center at WSU back in the late 1980s. I only spoke at length with him once and I’ll never forget his kindness and his projection of Christ’s love and forgiveness. I was having a difficult time feeling accepted into the Church after a divorce and Father Dave spent over an hour talking with me and assuring me of God’s love for me. In my heart, the counsel he gave me that day is one of the reasons that I am now a fully practicing/involved member of the Catholic Church again. This was his impact upon one encounter with a soul in jeopardy. I thank God for sending Father Dave to me at that time in my life. I am sure his family will feel the void he leaves for years to come but I pray that God will also give the family and friends he leaves behind the comfort of knowing Father Dave lives on with our Lord.

  17. Dear M / M Linnebur and Family, I was a classmate of Father Dave at the Mount and will always remember our friendship that started there. I will offer my Mass today for Fr Dave and all of you. (Rev) Bill Dermott MSM ’82 Diocese of Allentown PA U.S. Navy Chaplain

  18. To the Linnebur family: I only knew of Fr. Linnebur through recent articles about his life and work.I know that he gave selflessly to others despite his own suffering. My heart goes out to you at this sad time.

  19. Linnebur Family, I am so sorry to hear your brother & son, David, passed on to be with the Lord! I wish I could be there today to personally express to you that while I didn’t know David, I know several of you so I know we lost a good friend, neighbor, and pastor at a time when we need more of those, not fewer. Thinking of you, Barth Crouch
