Donald William Chambers, 83, Retired KG&E and Westar Mechanic, United States Marine, and antique car enthusiast and restorer, died Saturday, April 8, 2023. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 6:00 pm, Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary. Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm, Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. In honor of Donald, please wear blue (his favorite color) to the service. Preceded in death by his wife, Lynda Sue Chambers; parents, William and Helen Chambers; sister, Phyllis Arnold; brother, Joseph "Sunny" Chambers. Survived by his daughter, Kelley (David) Cox of Wichita; son, Todd William (Patrick) Chambers of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Lauren (Ryan) Barrett, Olivia (Michael) Conner; first great-grandchild on the way, Baby Barrett; nieces, Mandy (Brian) Anderson, Erin Zinn; adopted son, Tony Tonihka, all of Wichita; beloved pet, Gus the Chihuahua; brother, Gene Redfield; step-brother, Carl Chambers; step-sisters, Nancy Hamilton, Vivian Chapman, Susan Johnson, Beverly Bryant, Bonnie McGowan. A memorial has been established with: Wichita Children's Home, 7271 E. 37th St. N., Wichita, KS 67226.
My true blessing go out to the family. Man, these two sure did a fantastic job raising their kids!! It’s probably one big party up there right now! Let that be of some comfort to you Todd and Kelly. May peace wash over you in this time of pain. Love always. Julie, Thane, and Grant
