Drayton Alldritt

Another pillar of the Alldritt Patriarch has fallen. Drayton Alldritt turned off into his final Rest Area on November 27, 2024, after a brief stay at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, KS. He died at home peacefully while his wife, Tina, and his mother, Kay, comforted him. He was 62. He leaves behind Tina and her son, Dylan. The son of David and Kay Alldritt, Drayton was born on September 21, 1962 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He was the first grandchild of Maxine and Don Alldritt and Lu and Max Brinnon, all of whom preceded him in death. After his father's graduation from Harvard University, the young family of 3 returned to Wichita in 1964 and resided in the College Hill neighborhood where Drayton lived most of his life. He attended Hyde Creek grade school, Robinson Jr. High, and was a scholar with honors at Wichita East High School, graduating in 1980. Drayton went on to graduate with a Bachelor's of Arts degree from Harvard University in 1984. He then returned home to Wichita where he began his successful 40-year long career in banking and consulting. Drayton married his high school sweetheart, Mary Phillips, in 1985 and together had 4 children whom he leaves behind: Justin (Rebecca) of Wichita, Josh (Quinn) of Roeland Park, KS, Bob (Sarah) of Roeland Park, KS, and Amelia of Lawrence, KS. He was blessed with a grandson, Arthur, son of Josh and Quinn in 2022. He also leaves behind his mother, Kay (Brinnon) Alldritt; his brother, Bear (Jean); sister, Megan Cook (Steve); and several nieces and nephews. His father, David, preceded him in death in 2008. Drayton was a member of an immense family. His immediate family included six uncles, and one aunt (4 still surviving), 15 first cousins, and numerous spouses and children. Currently, a typical family gathering may exceed 50 individuals. He will be missed dearly and not only by family, but by a multitude of friends and clients from coast to coast and beyond! He met the love of his life, Tina, in 2017 and spent the remainder of his life by her side. They wed in 2023, and together made a lifetime of amazing memories. Drayton lived life to the fullest. He was banker, father, coach, skier, golf course owner, entrepreneur, and the founder of the family "Lightning Tour" adventures. He was a compassionate and empathetic man. A visit to his personal archives testifies to his diverse interests and accomplishments. In the annals of College Hill, Drayton established his own chapter. Rest in peace, Drayton. You will forever be in our hearts. Celebration of life will be at 3:00 pm, Sunday, January 12, 2025, at the Candle Club. This event will be open to all family and friends. At Drayton’s request, he wanted his friends to dress in their best “Parrothead” attire at the venue to celebrate his life and legacy. Services in care of Downing & Lahey East Mortuary.

Guestbook

  1. I am saddened to hear of Drayton’s passing. Thirty-eight years ago we were next door neighbors on South Fountain Street in College Hill. This was my family’s first real house, and Drayton was my first real neighborly friend. Our sole differences were that I graduated from KSU and drank Coors, and he graduated from Harvard and drank Guinness. From painting the windows, playing with our kids, or working in the yard, we both enjoyed the same fatherly duties. My memory of Drayton will always be of a smiling young dad, just doing as much as possible with the people he loved. To his family I offer my heartfelt condolences. I know he will we missed beyond measure. To God above, may Drayton rest in eternal peace. May we never forget the moments he gave us here.

  2. Drayton was a year behind me in school and always such an impressive guy like all his family. They lived about a block away on Crestway and just always enjoyed Drayton and his family, certainly a great loss. Wishing Draytons family deepest condolences.
