Ellis Alva Tucker, 72, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday. May 8, 2024. Preceded in death by his parents, Betty June (Brent) and Robert Ellis Tucker; granddaughter, Amara Tucker; and brother-in-law, Hal Herd. Survived by his wife of 49 years, Trecia of Wichita, KS; children, Matthew (Catie) Tucker of Evansville, IN, Landon (Naomi) Tucker of Denver, CO, Brianne (Carson) Stutzman of Hesston, KS; grandchildren, Alia Tucker, Caleb Stutzman, Truett Tucker, Luca Tucker, Eleanor Stutzman, Kinzlee Tucker and Gabriel Stutzman; sister, Kathy Herd of Goddard, KS; and brother, Robert (Deb) Tucker, of Boerne, TX.
Alva was born on December 8, 1951, in Liberal, Kansas. He graduated from Coldwater High School and attended Dodge City Community College and Emporia State University before enlisting in the United States Air Force. He served six years and during that time he also graduated from Southern Illinois University with a BS degree. After returning to Wichita, KS, he was hired by Boeing Aircraft and continued his education in programming from Wichita State University. He worked 33 years for Boeing and then Spirit as a systems analyst.
Alva accepted Christ as his savior as a child at a vacation Bible school program and recommitted his life to Christ in 1983. Al and Trecia attended and served at West Evangelical Free Church, Wichita, KS, and Beacon Community Church, Goddard, KS, until Alva was diagnosed and suffered from FTD dementia/Alzheimer’s disease.
Celebration of life is scheduled for Tuesday, 3:00 PM, at Beacon Community Church, Goddard, KS.
