Buckley, Frances “Fran” Asher, 77, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many, died Tuesday, July 11, 2006 after a long battle with cancer. Visitation with the family 5:00 ~ 8:00 P.M., Thursday, July 13, Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Memorial service 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 14, Eastminster Presbyterian Church. Reception following service. Fran was born in Bentonville, AR. After her family to whom she was devoted, Frans first love was playing competitive golf. She also volunteered for the Kansas Childrens Service League since 1985 when she began answering calls on the Childrens Helpline. She later became a presenter for Keys for Safe Kids and served on the board of KCSL. Fran was a docent at the Wichita Art Museum for two years, and was a very active member of the Junior League of Wichita, particularly the Thrift Shop where at one point she was the Thrift Shop Chairman. In addition, she spent many years supporting the various organizations her children were involved in, including being the Girl Scout Cookie Chairman “forever”. Fran is survived by her husband, William; children and spouses, Kim and John Kadel of Andover, KS, Britt and Angel Buckley of Colorado Springs, CO, Kay and Peter Pryor of Denver, CO and Jan Buckley and William Schnauber of Andover, KS; sisters and spouses, Ann and Armando Sanchez of Wichita, Virginia Galloway of Dousman, WI and Carolyn and Tom McCaul of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Morgan Eggleston of St. Louis, MO, Brice Kadel of Wichita, William P. Buckley of Boulder, CO, Blair Buckley of Elon, NC, Brian Buckley, of Colorado Springs, CO, Brett Hahnenkamp of Vancouver, BC, Ali Schnauber and Wesley Schnauber of Andover, KS. Fran had one great-grandchild, Katie Eggleston of St. Louis, MO. Memorials may be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS, 67202. Visitation with the family will be 5:00 ~ 8:00 P.M., Thursday, July 13, Downing Lahey Mortuary East.

  1. Jan, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I know that your mother adored you and your family. When I would clean her teeth, she would talk about you and your baby more than she talked about GOLF!! You and your family and in my prayers.
