Gerald V. Warrell, 73, of Kathleen, GA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 23, 2020, at Pine Pointe Hospice in Macon. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held in the family plot in Greenwood Cemetery in rural Belmont, Kansas, on Saturday, May 30, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon, GA 31210 or Heart of Georgia Hospice, 103 Westridge Drive, Warner Robins, GA 31088. Gerald was born on June 1, 1946, to the late Paul and Bernice Warrell. He grew up in the Wichita, Kansas, area and worked on the family farm with his dad and siblings. After graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force. Soon thereafter, he married the love of his life, Karrie Hirsch. As they embarked on their marriage, little did they know about the lifetime of adventures that were in store for them. Gerald became a licensed pilot, began working as a private pilot, and eventually became a pilot instructor. Upon his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Gerald was in the Air Force Reserves and eventually, the Air National Guard. He accepted a job with Civil Service and was stationed at Charleston Air Force Base. After a few years, Gerald was transferred to Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base, where the couple bought a home and would live the remainder of their lives together. Gerald was an Equipment Specialist and, after working his way to Electronics, he was gradually promoted to Aviation Electronics and then Electronics Warfare. He retired after working over 40 years with them. Throughout their married life, the couple enjoyed camping and traveled extensively, touring many national parks. Gerald enjoyed race cars and dirt-track racing – it was his passion. He loved fishing and was always on the lookout for the next best “fishing hole.” He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving and faithful wife of 46 ½ years, Karrie Hirsch; and his sister, Katherine Byrum. Left to cherish the memories they made with Gerald are his caring and devoted daughters, JaNette Warrell of Warner Robins, and Toniese Warrell Craft (David) of Fayetteville; his son, Steven Warrell; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his brother, Jan Warrell (Pamela); and several nieces and nephews.
