Glenda Marlene McEvoy

Glenda Marlene McEvoy, 87, retired after 35 years as an Executive Secretary with Boeing, died Thursday, December 1, 2022. Glenda was born March 7, 1935, in Wichita, KS to Richard and Elizabeth Feurt. They precede her along with her son, George Carter McEvoy.
Glenda attended Wichita Public Schools, graduating from East High School. She spent two years at Wichita University studying accounting. Glenda was an accomplished swimmer and attained her Life Savior Certification during high school.
Glenda met her husband, George, in middle school and they married in 1956 at Central Christian Church in downtown Wichita. They spent two years in Baltimore, MO where George was stationed in the military and where son, Carter, was born.
Glenda loved to go dancing. She enjoyed gardening flowers. A long time fan of WSU Basketball and was a season ticket holder for years. Glenda decorated her home for every holiday. Her favorite was to decorate for Christmas.
Glenda fell in love with the game of golf and was a member of Rolling Hills Country Club for the last 50 years. She proudly had a hole-in-one. She and George traveled to attend many professional golf tournaments.
Glenda was a 32 year survivor of breast cancer.
Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am, Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Survived by her husband of 67 years, George McEvoy of Wichita, KS; brother, Leo “Bud” Feurt and wife, Sang of Poway, CA; niece, Serenah Feurt Runyan and husband, Brandon of Poway, CA; grandson, Chase McEvoy of Wichita; daughter-in-law, Lori McEvoy of Kansas City, MO. A memorial has been established with: Guadalupe Clinic, 940 S. St. Francis, Wichita, KS 67211. Downing & Lahey Mortuary - West Chapel.
George and Chase, we wanted you to know our hearts go out to you as we realize what this loss means to you. Losing a loved one as special as Glenda will be very difficult, but Glenda brought smiles and joy to those who knew her. May the warmth and the joy of many beautiful and fun memories bring you the reassurance that she lives on with each of you. God bless you, Grant you peace and comfort in the sorrowful time.
