Culp, Herbert J., 86, retired ad department head for the Wichita Eagle, passed away, Monday, January 4, 2010. Rosary 6:30 p.m., Thursday, January 7, Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Funeral Mass 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 8, All Saints Catholic Church. As a WW II veteran, he served in the Army Air Corp as a B-17 Tail Gunner flying 30 successful missions. Preceded in death by wife, Theresa (Sullivan) Culp. Survivors: sons, James Culp of OKC, OK and Christopher Culp of Wichita, KS; daughter, Susan Moore of Wichita; sisters, Jess ODonnell of Wichita and Mary Gordon of Ponca, OK; grandchildren Chad wife, Gail Moore, Phil Moore, Jordan Stuenkel; great-grandchildren, Michael, Katie Preston; great-great-grandchildren, Aniston Peyton; companion, Nina Hazen.
Rosary service will be 6:30 P.M. Thursday at Downing Lahey Mortuary East

Jim, Susie, Chris, I have many fond memories of the large Culp family get togethers at the grand folks house on Gilbert in Wichita. Where all the aunts and uncles sat around the kitchen table while all the cousins were turned loose to create all sorts of havoc. One of the most vivid memories of your dad was when he and uncle Jack took me to one of the ball clubs practices and I got a chance to watch the club close up taking batting and fielding practice. Your dad was a distinguished member of the Army Air Corp and served this country with courage and personal sacrifices. He will be an everlasting memory and a cherished part of my life.
