James “Jim” Upshaw

Upshaw, James “Jim”, a former farm and construction worker and an employee of Wesley Hospital, 74, passed away Dec. 7, 2009. Service is 10 AM, Friday Dec. 11 at Downing Lahey East Mortuary. Viewing will be Thursday from 10 AM to 9 PM. Preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Leona Upshaw, brother Vernon Upshaw and sister Joan Ladd. Survivors include a sister-in-law, nephew, nieces, cousins, and many friends. Jim was born in Coil, Oklahoma and was 7 years old when he and his family came to the Andover, KS area. Jim liked attending all the farm sales. He was known for giving watermelons to friends and took great joy providing breakfast for families who had lost a loved one. A memorial has been established with Life Care Center of Wichita, 622 N. Edgemoor, Wichita, KS 67208. Viewing will be Thursday from 10 AM to 9 PM.
