Preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Bernadine Jerome; nine brothers; four sisters; and his beloved wife of 65 years, Barbara Jerome. He is survived by his children: daughters, Karen (Michael) Mollohan of Gladstone, MO, Jamie (Ron) Boatwright of Colleyville, TX, Kris Spradley of Goddard, KS, and Tammy (Jon) Lehr of Wichita, KS; sons, Jeffrey (Sherry) Jerome of Newton, KS, and Jerry (Mindy) Jerome of Mustang, OK. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
He was a dedicated Catholic, a loving family man, an educator, a coach, and an avid sports enthusiast. He spent many years playing sports and, in later years, watched every game he could whenever he had the chance. When he wasn’t at the ball field or a sporting event, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, tending to the farm in his younger years, and taking pride in his yard later in life. Grilling for family gatherings was one of his favorite activities. He had a remarkable ability to bring people together and could engage in conversation with anyone, finding a familiar face wherever he went. His greatest joy was being surrounded by those he loved.
A memorial has been established with: Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS 67202. Services in care of Downing & Lahey Mortuary - West Chapel.
Thank you for your dedication and concern for “all” children, especially our students at Holy Savior Catholic Academy. Praise God for you life.
So many memories when Mr Jerome was at USD 387! He was a great educator and boss. He always had my back Cherish the memories made.
I have the most found memories of both Barbara and Jim Jerome. I was fortunate to grow up in Valley Center and spent many a time at their house with their daughter Jamie. I have so many special memories throughout the years. I will miss Jim Jerome and his sense of humor and posting on my facebook randomly. I love this family and many prayers for the days to come.
I just found this notice online, Jim was a great guy who I got to play men’s fastpitch softball with in Eldorado. He was also a friend of my father’s, Lorin Wallace from Towanda. I am sorry about the lateness of my posting but I had moved to Oklahoma and a little behind when it comes to some of this type of news. My thoughts and prayers to all of the family.
