OConnor, Joan Margaret (Branson), 68, homemaker, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her entire family, Friday, July 25, 2008, after a courageous battle with ALS. Graveside service, 12:00 P.M., Monday, July 28, Resthaven Cemetery, followed by a Celebration of Life Service, 2:00 P.M., Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by parents, Blufford and Ione Branson; brothers, Donald and Keith; sister, Phyllis Boehne. Survivors: husband, Donald; children, Kelley Dawson, Kerrey (David) Shupe, Amy OConnor (John Buckendorf), Donald (Glennes) OConnor II, all of Wichita; brother, Jack Branson of Waterloo, IL; sisters, Joyce Zipfel of Gladstone, MO, Karen Harbison of Kansas City, MO, Nadine Feldker of Waterloo, IL; grandchildren, Sara (Jesse) Powell, Bryan and Cameron Dawson, Logan, Landon, and Bailey Shupe, Connor, Colby, and Katherine Rankin; great-grandson, Jack Powell. In lieu of flowers, memorials to ALS Association, Keith Worthington Chapter, 3450 N. Rock Rd., Bldg. 200, S-211, Wichita, KS 67226 and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS 67202. I fondly remember many fun times with Joan and her family in Derby. She had such a great sense of humor – Sis, Jan & I spent many hours sitting in her kitchen. My condolences are with her loving family.
