John Edward Pfanenstiel

December 15, 1970 ~ November 12, 2024
John Edward Pfanenstiel, 53, was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend to many. John was born on Tuesday, December 15, 1970, and passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.
John loved to be outside, he loved fishing and playing golf. However, you would probably find him mowing his 10 acres on his Bad Boy mower on most weekends. He loved the Dallas Cowboys and was a huge Emmitt Smith fan and collected his football cards. He was very proud of his massive card collection. He also loved KU basketball.
John was the most hard-working man. He was a licensed Electrician that followed generations of electricians in his family. John started being an Electrician when he was in his 20’s and his dad and uncles taught him the trade. He passed on his knowledge to multiple others throughout his career and lastly, teaching the trade to his son, Bryce.
John might have been known to many as John the Electrician, but to his family, John Boy was so much more. He was a husband, the most loving husband who put his wife first. He loved being a father the most and was very proud of his two boys. Being a brother was very special to him and would do anything for his little sister. For his parents, John Boy was the pillar of strength, and they were very proud of the man he became. He was our protector. John would walk into a room and the room would brighten and people wanted to be around him. So many people say he gave the best hugs.
John is preceded in death by his brother, David Allen Pfanenstiel. Survived by his Wife, Linda Diana Pfanenstiel; sons, Wesley Pfanenstiel, Bryce Pfanenstiel; parents, John Herman and Mary Ann Pfanenstiel; sister and brother-in-law, Jennifer and Jeff Cammarn; nieces, Tristan Pfanenstiel, Ally Becker; nephew, Ben Cammarn; and great-nephew, Braylen Becker; and many other family and friends.
Celebration of Life service will be at 1:00 pm, Sunday November 24, 2024, at Downing & Lahey West Mortuary, and Celebration of Life gathering to follow at the Sedgwick County Park, Plum building. To honor John Boy, please dress casually; if you have any Dallas Cowboys or KU attire, please wear it.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with: Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, P.O. Box 22324, New York, NY 10087.
John boy was my god-father and I was so proud to be his god-daughter. He is the only reason I am dallas cowboys fan today. I love you with all my heart john boy. Until we see each other again. Maybe help our boyz get another superbowl. ❤️
John was always fun to be around. We were locker neighbors our senior year. He had a huge heart! He will be missed! Sending prayers to all his family and friends!!
I met John and Linda, while we were both up in Kansas City at The KU Cancer Center. My sister and caregiver, Cecilia and I, met many people at Hope Lodge and John & Linda were two of our favorites. John always had a smile and genuinely had compassion and empathy for those of us fighting that horrible disease. Just as he was. Too often we lose good people too soon. John was one of those. My most sincere condolences to Linda and John’s entire family.
Steve Avila.
The letter John Boy sent me in 1973

Oh the memories!!! I can still hear John and Patrick during any KU vs KState game and I can picture them on the living room floor watching the 1988 NCAA Championship game when KU won it all. John will forever be part of our family and will always be in my heart. My prayers for his family…may he rest in peace.
Linda and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I am grateful that I had the opportunity to get to know and care for John. I will remember him for his resilience and love of life. My deepest sympathies are with you and your family at this time.
John and I have worked together for the last 32 years. So many memories, he will be missed. Picture is from 2017 around 10pm staying late to get a job completed (we did that a lot ) RIP Johnboy
My heart is sad to see this! John was in my graduating class of 1989, at Clearwater High. Rest easy friend! I’m thankful for your friendship. My thoughts & prayers are with his family & friends. May your sweet memories be hugs to your hurting hearts! 💔🙏🏽

We were saddened to hear of John”s passing. He was a great guy and a great electrician. He always had a smile on his face and I enjoyed seeing him stop in my office at work to talk. He was such a blessing when we built our home. I think of him everytime the light goes on automatically in my pantry, thanks to his suggestion. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
