John F. Reverend Kenny

Kenny, Rev. John Francis, 85, died Thursday September 7, 2006 in Lakewood, Washington. Rosary 7:00 P.M. Monday, September 11, 2006; Memorial Funeral Mass 9:30 A.M. Tuesday, September 12, 2006 both at St. Elizabeth Chapel at the Catholic Care Center in Wichita. John was born February 3, 1921, in Wichita, son of William and Edith Kenny. Survivors include a brother and his wife Wey and Agnes Kenny of Wichita; nieces, Kathleen Arenz, Pat Kenny, Mary Adair, Joan Kenny, Susan Kenny, Christine Antonelli and Concetta Antonelli; nephew, Vincent Antonelli; eight grand nieces and nephews; one great grand nephew. John graduated from Cathedral High School, Wichita, in 1939 and from Kendrick Seminary, Webster Groves, Mo, in 1946. Priest of the Wichita Diocese from 1946-1952 with appointments at St. Andrew in Independence; Peter and Paul in Ellinwood; St. Joseph in Humboldt and All Saints in Independence. John enlisted in the U.S. Army as Chaplin in 1953 with duty in the United States, Germany, Korea and Vietnam. John retired after 20 years of service, receiving numerous medals including the Bronze Star, with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Downing and Lahey East Chapel. Rosary 7:00 P.M. Monday, St. Elizabeth Chapel at Catholic Care Center.
