Lawrence Michial Weixelman

Weixelman, Lawrence Michial, 83, retired Boeing electrical engineer, died June 27, 2005. A Celebration of Life will be held at Grace Presbyterian Church, 7:30 P.M., Wednesday, June 29, and a funeral mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 10:00 A.M., Thursday, June 30. Larry was born December 19, 1921 near Manhattan, KS. He lived there until he joined the Navy in 1941. After his discharge from the Navy he attended Kansas State University where he received a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1950. Larry moved to Wichita where he began working at Boeing Aircraft. He married Joan Uphoff in 1953. They were married for 38 years. During this time, they raised eight children. Larry was very active in the Catholic Church, especially with the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He also delivered Meals on Wheels for over 20 years. He retired from Boeing in 1989. After the death of his wife, Joan, Larry married Ruby Flory in 1993. He and Ruby continued to volunteer their time helping others. They were very active in Rubys sorority, Phi Beta Psi and the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. Larry is survived by his wife, Ruby, children, Joseph Weixelman, Kent Weixelman, Jeff Weixelman and Pat Weixelman, all of Wichita, Laura Hall of Topeka, Lynda Daves of Wichita, Amy Brickei of Manhattan, KS, Susan Wood of Peachtree City, GA; step-children, Steven Flory, Carol Root and Pam Holcomb, all of Coeur d Alene, ID; 21 grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with Weekend Meals on Wheels, Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and Phi Beta Psi. Downing Lahey Mortuary East.

I wish to express my deep sympathy to the Weixelman family. As a child, I spent may hours with Kent, Jeff, and Pat. My memories of the household formed by Larry and Joan was one filled with love, vitality, and service to others. What a great legacy.

Dear Ruby, children in Idaho and step-children in Kansas and Georgia, Just wanted to express our sympathy in the unexpected loss of your husband Larry. We always enjoyed visiting with you both in Round Dance classes over the years. Both of you were so warm and friendly and worked well together.
