Linda J. Sehee

June 29, 1949 ~ January 30, 2024
Linda J. Sehee, 74, of Wichita, KS, passed away on January 30, 2024. Linda was born in Detroit, MI which is also where she learned her street smarts and her sometimes ornery ways. She graduated from John Glen High School in Detroit and soon after married William (Bill) Sehee and traveled the world with him while Bill served in the Air Force. She loved parties, cooking and planning events and worked as a caterer, wedding planner and military club manager. She also served as a crisis line volunteer and did massage therapy as a hobby. In 1990, she divorced Bill and moved to Wichita, KS. She went on to buy the Lamplighter Club, which she owned for the next 17 years. She was devoted to her customers and doted on them like a mother hen. She brought her Detroit toughness to her business, and everyone knew you didn't mess with Linda or her longtime customers! It was a loss to all who knew her when her health declined, and she was forced to sell the Lamplighter Club in 2007. She was most proud of her daughter, Michelle (Sehee) Watson, who fulfilled her mom's greatest wish for her by graduating college and achieving a Juris Doctorate degree. Linda leaves behind her daughter Michelle and son-in-law Scott Watson, beloved grand-dog Freddy, devoted sister Penny Nickles of Bradenton, FL, her very good friend Max Lovett, her longtime caregiver Nicole Parmer of Andover, KS and several caregivers at Covenant Care Senior Home, who - even though they only had her a short time - grew fond of her and dubbed her "Spitfire" as she handed out advice to anyone who would listen! Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Gerard "Pete" and Virginia Nickles; her son, John Sehee; sister, June Mcintosh; and her brother, Gerry Nickles. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Linda will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium, 1600 Ken Thompson Parkway, Sarasota, FL 34236; Covenant Care Senior Home, Holiday Fund, 14422 E Twinlake Dr, Wichita, KS 67230.
It was a privilege to take care of Linda in the last couple of months! I grew to love her ornery personality and jokes! Linda was a great conversationalist and included everyone to join in.
I will miss seeing her every morning and sharing a cup of coffee with her. Cheers to you Linda, my friend! I’ll always remember you! Jana Sheets
