Linus S. Lauer

Linus S. Lauer, died peacefully on May 19, 2014. He was born in Blaine, Kansas on June 11, 1924 to Martha (Hemmen) and Antone P. Lauer. He graduated from Cathedral HS in 1942. He attended Wichita Business College and was an accountant for various companies including Farmers and Bankers Insurance, Cessna, the law firm of Jochems, Sargent Blaes, and Kansas Petroleum Inc. During his retirement he was appointed as conservator to the estates of many elderly. Linus was active in scouting, a community volunteer for the election board, and the Lords Diner. Preceded in death by parents, and brother, Walter. Survivors include wife, Mary Louise; children, Greg (Linda) of Littleton, CO, Maribeth Lester (Kirk) of Wichita, LouAnn Getz (Rex) of Manhattan, Tim (Gina) of Wichita, Jane Lauer of Littleton, CO and Mark (Vicki) of Wichita; eight grandchildren and two great- grandchildren; brother, Ambrose, and sisters, Gerry Steiner, Winifred Albert and Bernetta Girrens. Visitation, 5:30 p.m., Thursday, May 22, followed by a Rosary at 7 p.m., both at Downing Lahey Mortuary West. Funeral Mass, 10 a.m., Friday, May 23 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Lords Diner and/or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.
