Marina Gutierrez

Gutierrez, Marina, 83, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2010, after a brief illness. Rosary 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 3, with Funeral Mass 10:00 a.m., Thursday, both at St. Jude Catholic Church. She was the loving wife of Armando Gutierrez, now deceased. Married for 60 years, together they provided for their family. Marina was a lifetime resident of Wichita. She began her work career supporting the war effort of WWII. Later she worked as a bacon packer for Cudahy. She ended her working career on the furnace line at Coleman/York International. Marina was also proud of her volunteer work as a Foster Grandparent, working with Catholic Charities of Wichita. Preceded in death by her husband, son, Michael, brother, Alex Mora and sister, Lupe Bowers. Survivors: daughters, Rosemary (Philip) Martinez and Alicia Smith, both of Wichita and Gloria (Dale) Barry of El Paso, TX; son, Gilbert Gutierrez of Wichita; brothers, Tony Mora, Carlos Mora and Joe Mora; sisters, Connie Concha-Villalpando, Maria Nico Schmidt, Linda Ortiz and Sally King; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren. A memorial has been established with St. Jude Catholic Church, 3130 N. Amidon, Wichita, KS, 67204. Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Rosary 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 3, at St. Jude Catholic Church.
