Hagan, Mary Ann, 89, loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away with dignity and grace Sunday, August 22, 2010. Rosary will be 7:30 p.m., Friday, August 27 and Funeral Mass 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 28, both at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Ann was born February 2, 1921 in Fort Motte, South Carolina. She received her R.N. degree from mercy Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1942. Shortly after she joined the Navy and received her post-graduate training in surgery through the University of Pennsylvania Hospitals. While there, she met her future husband, Dr. C. Thomas Hagan. They were married November 8, 1948. They settled in Wichita where they raised their family. Ann was active in multiple charitable organizations including the American Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, The Monicans and teaching English as a second language. She also went on several medical missions to Central and South America. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Lorena Claffy, husband, Dr. C. Thomas Hagan, beloved daughter, Mary Kathryn, brothers, Robert and Joseph Claffy, sisters, Teresa Cunningham and Lillian Miller. Survivors: sons and daughters-in-law, Martin and Janet Hagan of Stillwater, OK, Jack and Diane Hagan of Plano, TX, Robert and Jane Hagan, Peter and Kim Hagan and Phillip and Maggie Hagan, all of Wichita; brother, James Claffy of Eastover, SC; grandchildren, Michael, Ashley, Mark, Christopher, Thomas, Allie, Daniel, Sam and Molly, Matthew, Sarah, Max, Michelle and Grace. Memorials have been established with TOGETHERvision, Catholic Diocese of Wichita, for the benefit of the Cathedral Campus Renovation, 424 N. Broadway, Wichita, KS, 67202 and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS, 67202. Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Rosary will be 7:30 p.m., Friday, August 27 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.

  2. I had the priviledge of meeting Mary at Chaucer Estates she was a wonderful lady who always talked about her family especially her sons whom she always said she were proud of. Such a great mother all of you had she will be truly missed.
