Mary Lou Bramhall, 86, died Tuesday, November 12, 2024. Rosary will be at 6:30 pm, Friday, December 6, 2024; Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, December 7, 2024, both at Church of the Magdalen Catholic Church. Preceded in death by her husband, Fon Bramhall, Junior. Survived by her sons, Michael (Katrina) Bramhall of Plattsmouth, NE, Brian (John Thompson) Bramhall of Dallas, TX; daughter, Lori (Mark) Calovich of Wichita; grandchildren, Erin (Charlie) Osterhout-Bramhall, Kara (Matt) Fraasch, Kristen (Greg) Nordhues, Spencer (Lenny) Schrader, Seth Schrader; great grandchildren, William, John, Maeve, Tedrow; sister, Delores Svoboda of Harrington, KS. She grew up in Clyde, KS and moved to Wichita after graduating high school working as an operator at Southwestern Bell. Fon took Mary Lou to play tennis on their first date in May of 1957. They married a year later August 30, 1958, at St. Antony’s Catholic Church. She and Fon were avid water-skiers and loved camping at lakes around Kansas and Oklahoma, being a dominant single and couples’ team in numerous bowling leagues and playing tennis. She enjoyed playing cards, crafts, gardening, cooking and sewing. They hosted many card parties with “The card party group” and Mary Lou learned to play bridge at Church of the Magdalen after Fon passed away. She was always involved with All Saints Catholic Church and School including Alter Society, Daughter’s of Isabella and Scouting. She used her sewing skills to help make vestments for the Catholic Diocese priest ordinations. Services in care of Downing & Lahey Mortuary - East Chapel.

    I was saddened to read about your mom’s passing. I lost my mom two years ago so I know the sadness it will leave in your heart. But, what a blessing to have our moms in our lives this far into adulthood. Reading about all her many and varied interests, she must have been quite the lady; an adventurous role model for sure. Offering up prayers for you and your family as you navigate the days ahead.
