Maxine I. Goracke, 90, homemaker, passed peacefully into eternal life, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. Rosary will be at 7:00 pm, Friday, June 20, 2025, at Downing & Lahey West Mortuary. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 am, Saturday, June 21, 2025, at St. Phillip Catholic Church, Hope, Kansas.
Maxine was born on August 4, 1934, to Ira and Mildred Haas. She graduated from Hope High School and attended Brown Mackie business college. She married the love of her life, Dwane Goracke in 1952. Maxine was a devoted daughter and always had a special connection to her twin sister that only twins could understand. She was a loving mother and grandmother and knew how to create that special bond with everyone she met. She was adored by those she led in Girl Scouts, served as a school room mother, the exchange students she hosted, and the very special students who so loved their para teacher. She served the Lord through Alter Society and as a guild member at Saint Margaret Mary Parish in Wichita.
Maxine is preceded in death by her husband, Dwane Joseph Goracke; parents, Ira and Mildred Haas; sons, Max Dwane Goracke, Donald Dean Goracke; daughter, Donna Jean Goracke; and sister, Morine Kempin. She is survived by her children, Sandy Jaggers, Cindy (Marc) Langlois, Doug S. (Jamie) Goracke, Rodger D. (Brenda) Goracke, Shelly R. (Chad) Reida, Troy J. Goracke; twenty-eight grandchildren; fifty-seven great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
