Melba Joan (Jo) Englund McCoun, 87, died Monday, August 10, 2015, at Catholic Care Center in Wichita, KS. She was born June 6, 1928 in Kansas City, MO to Paul Cora Swan. Melba (Jo) was raised in Kansas City, MO graduated from William Chrisman High School in Independence, MO. Survived by her daughter, Patti (Terry) Plenert; daughter-in-law, Shawna Englund; sister-in-law, Sheri Swan of Hot Springs Village, AR; step-daughters, Carole Lake ( her sons) of Kansas City, MO, Janey (Randy) Tanner ( her daughter) of Littleton, CO; grandchildren, Jon McLean of Little Elm, TX, Matthew (Katie) Englund, Aaron Englund, Rachel Englund of Wichita; great-grandchildren, (Jons) MacKenzie, McHale, Skyler McLean (Rachels) Cora Englund; nieces, Staycee (Murray) Hynes Shannon Swan of Bloomington, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Cora Swan; husband, Arnold J. Englund; husband Leonard J. (Mac) McCoun; daughter, Paula Winter; son,Tom Englund; and brother, Lloyd Swan. Melba Jo was an awesome Mother, Sister, Aunt, Grandma Great-Grandma! Jo was also an active Sweet Adeline throughout her life, a bass member of 4 choruses; Ja-Co-Mo Chorus, Hot Springs Village Chorus, Top of the Rock chorus the Wichita Chorus. She served as chair for many chorus committees served on the Region 25 Board of Directors, attained Certified Director status was an active bass quartet member in various chorus quartets. Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 14, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at the 47th Street Christian Church, 601 West 47th Street South, Wichita, KS 67217.
