Bailey, Merle E., 86, retired Boeing engineer, died Wednesday, December 19, 2007. Service 1:30 P.M., Thursday, December 27, Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Preceded in death by wife, Rosemary (Jenkins) Bailey, parents, Edwin and Lenora Bailey, and sister, Helen Dunlap. Survivors: daughters, Jean Martin of Wichita and Carol Genneken (Jim) of Allen, TX; son, Steven Bailey (Ann) of Topeka, KS; grandchildren, Eric Martin, Bryan Genneken, Kyle Genneken, Christopher Bailey and Stephanie Bailey; brother, Charles Bailey of Wichita; sister, Eleanor Taylor of Olathe, KS; many nieces and nephews. Memorials have been established with the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 1653, Topeka, KS 66601-9865 and the American Institute for Cancer Research, 1759 R Street NW, Washington, DC, 20009. I was saddened to hear of Irene’s death from Warren Woods today. I remember the whole Mercer family from the days our folks were such good friends. My Dad and Joe kept horses together and we would often of out to your place on North 10th to ride. May God’s grace be sufficient in this time of loss.
