Messenger, Robert R., Sr., 67, retired building maintenance mechanic for Southwestern Bell, passed away Friday, January 7, 2011. Memorial service, 1 p.m., Thursday, January 13, Downing Lahey Mortuary West. Preceded in death by mother, Ruby Randall. Survivors: son, Robert R. “Bobby” Messenger, Jr.; daughter, Dawn Celeste Messenger; grandchildren, Mercedez Lynn Messenger, Braxton Riley Eck, Lexi BraAwn Carol Eck, Jaxson Bradley Easton Eck, Xane Ridge Devereux Eck; brother, John William Messenger; dear friend, Carol Quirarte. Memorial established with St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Dear Family, Bob and I grew up on Heiserman street and were in the same grade through grduation from North High. I recall hanging out after school at Bob’s house with him and some of his buddies and entertaining ourselves by making fun of our voices on a reel-to-reel tape recorder. Just one of many old memories of kids on the same block. Brother Bill, I remember you as well and am sorry you lost your yonger brother at what now seems a young age.
