N. Dexter Kelly, retired federal agent, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, was called to his heavenly home on March 24, 2026, at the age of 75.

Services for Dexter will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, April 6, 2026, Downing & Lahey East Mortuary, 6555 E. Central, Wichita, KS 67206. The service will be live streamed and available to view by clicking “Watch” below.

Dexter was known for leading with integrity and grace, his sense of humor was above and beyond. Most importantly outwardly living his faith in Jesus Christ. He lived a life defined by hard work, loyalty, and love for his family and friends, especially those that worked with him. Dexter left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his son, Jeremiah (Katie) Kelly of Park City, KS; his two grandchildren, Gavin Kelly and Savannah Kelly; his sister, Karen (Kelly) Elliott of Lees Summit, MO; and many nieces and nephews who loved Dexter just as much.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Sharon (Sherry) Kelly; his parents, James B. and Delores Juanelle Kelly; and his twin brothers, E. Floyd and J. Lloyd Kelly.

Dexter found joy in driving his grandchildren around to anything they had planned for him on any given day, and being the lead cheerleader for all their activities. Dexter will be deeply missed, and his legacy will always be carried with those who knew him.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Dexter was my mother and daddy’s first grandchild and even though I was only 8 years old when he was born, he made me a aunt the first time, I thought my sister had given me a real live baby doll, o how we all loved him, Montgomery was such a small school then, where all grades were in the same building , my brother Bugs and I even took him to school with us a few times when he was little, you couldn’t do that now ,in our older years Dex was just as sweet and kind as he was when he was a child, our lives took us in different directions, and we didn’t see much of each other except on special occasions, Dexs dad was also a special agent and his job kept them away a lot, and then after he finished college and married he became a special agent, I have so many fond memories that I will cherish forever

  2. Jeremiah, we are sending our deep condolences to you four Kelly’s. We’re praying that Monday’s service will be a very special time for you to think of all of us who will be in prayer for your family. I know it won’t be easy, but it’s such a noble gesture for you to be able to reunite your parents. I can hear them both saying, “Thanks, son!”

  3. Jeremiah, My heartfelt condolences for you, Katie, Gavin and Savannah, as well as the rest of the family. I will continue lifting you all up in prayer during this difficult time. Your dad impacted so many and his legacy lives on in all of them…as well as you and your children. May you see glimpses of your dad in small gestures that they do.

Like your name sake Jeremiah…”Yahweh has uplifted”…Jeremiah was known for his lamentations, strength and faith. May you find all these as you move forward.
