Nancy Josephine Wilhite

March 22, 1944 ~ May 24, 2024
Throughout her life, Nancy Josephine Wilhite was a giver. Asking little for herself, she generously gave her time, compassion, and love to the people around her. Born on March 22, 1944 to Opal May “Benham” Wilhite and Charles Truman Wilhite, she lived in Wichita, KS. She passed away on Friday May 24, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Leonard Andrew White.Following her graduation from Sacred Heart College (now Newman University) she held various administrative positions throughout her career. Her real strength, though, was working directly with children. To that end, she worked in childcare and children’s programs where she was known for her caring nature and reliability. She was an enthusiastic friend to all of Wichita, and was active in many groups in her community, including Justice Together, Citizen’s Academy, and League of Women Voters. Whatever the task at hand, Nancy would show up and work hard. As a member of West Heights United Methodist Church for many years, Nancy continued in her path of giving, serving on nearly every board and committee, and volunteering countless hours to make her church better and support their mission. A celebration of Nancy’s life and spirit will be held on Saturday July 27th, 2024, at 11am at West Heights United Methodist Church. She is survived by Sasha Enegren and James Massol, and their children Emilia Massol and Andre Massol of Orlando, whom she considered her family; her close friends Bev, Heather, Judy, Kim, Cynda; nieces, nephews, cousins; and a host of grateful recipients of her friendship. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for West Heights United Methodist Church.
