Opal Ellen Staats

Opal Ellen Staats, a long-time resident of Wichita, KS died at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice on Sunday, May 15, 2016. She was born August 25, 1940 in Kingston, AR. She was a wonderful teacher, a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a doting grandmother. She loved nature, gardening, animals, and cheering on the Shockers. She lived fully and loved freely. She now rests in God’s garden. She leaves her loving husband, Ray; her sons, Sean and wife Nina, Karl and wife Rose, Rion and wife Samantha, Noel and fiancé Heather. She leaves three grandchildren; Connor, Kevalin, and Cameron. There will be a public viewing from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Downing and Lahey Mortuary West, 10515 W. Maple in Wichita, KS. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 7901 West 21st Street North in Wichita, KS. Opal will be interred at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Bucklin Cemetery, Bucklin, KS. A memorial has been established with Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
