Rita Loehr

Rita Loehr, 90, of Garden Plain, died August 17, 2021, in her home of 60 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandma. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Vera Gass; husband, Lawrence, and sons, Maurice and Michael. She is survived by three daughters, Mary Ann (Kelly) Harmon of Garden Plain, Judy (Randy) Phelps of Wichita, and Margaret (Glenn) Yeffeth of Dallas, TX; five grandchildren, Andy (Amy) Phelps, Emma (Matt) Cerre, and Ila Phelps all of Wichita, Olivia Phelps of Lawrence, KS, Adrian Demopulos of Dallas, TX, and 5 great-grandchildren in Wichita. Rita tirelessly served her family, church, and community throughout her life, as an Altar Society chairwoman, an RCIA sponsor, 4-H instructor, and especially as babysitter extraordinaire. She served as a crisis pregnancy support volunteer with Birthline for 20+ years, where a memorial has been established. The family is grateful to Harry Hynes Hospice for the wonderful care she received in her last days. Rosary, 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 19; Holy Mass at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 20, both at St Anthony Catholic Church, Garden Plain. Interment will follow immediately in St. Anthony Cemetery, Garden Plain. Downing & Lahey Mortuary West.
