Roger K. Davis passed away peacefully Thursday, November 21, 2024, at St. Francis Hospital surrounded by his family and listening to his Irish music. Roger was born June 19th, 1940, in Norcatur, KS. He grew up working in his dad’s neighborhood grocery store until it closed. Throughout high school he worked at Mr. D’s grocery store. Roger graduated from West High School in 1959. He attended Wichita State University where he played basketball his freshman year. He went on to coach basketball for over 55 years to youth groups through church and school, even coaching his daughters and grandsons. Roger worked in sales for various retail and wholesale companies with furniture and flooring, even owning his own store, Carpet World, with his best friend. He married Carole Brueggemann on October 3rd, 1970. He was involved with the Laymen’s Club through church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus since 1997. He is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Violet Davis, and his brother, Daryl Davis. He is survived by his wife, Carole Davis, whom he was with for 54 years; daughters, Kendra Wiles (Jerod) and Kara Cunniff (Jason) of Battlefield, MO; grandsons, Braedon Armstrong (Serena) and Kyler Armstrong (Jessi) of Kansas City, MO; granddaughters, Jaden and Chloe Cunniff of Battlefield, MO; great granddaughters, Gracelynn and Rennley Armstrong and Ivy Wiles; numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Rosary will be held on Friday, November 29th, 2024, at 7:00 pm with the Funeral Mass following on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 10:00 am, both services at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 2701 S. Pattie, Wichita, KS 67216. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church or you can send a donation in his memory to Boys Town, P.O. Box 8000, Boys Town, NE 68010. Services are in care of Downing & Lahey West Mortuary.

  2. Sorry to hear that Roger passed away. I worked with him at Horton’s Carpets for a few years and exchanged e-mails with him lately. Always enjoyed his sense of humor.
