  2. A Memory of Aunt Sheryl

As I stand here today, reflecting on Aunt Sheryl’s incredible life, one thing is crystal clear: she had a way of making everyone feel loved, cherished, and remembered. For 52 years—every single one of my birthdays—I could count on a card from her. Whether I was a child thrilled by a crisp $20 bill or an adult grateful for her continued thoughtfulness, that simple gesture never wavered. It wasn’t about the card or the cash, though; it was about what it represented—her steady, unwavering love and her unique ability to make me feel special.

Aunt Sheryl didn’t just remember birthdays. She remembered people. She truly listened when we talked. Every conversation with her was like a warm hug—filled with her kindness, her wisdom, and her unmistakable joy for life. No matter what was going on in her own world, she always had time to listen, to care, and to give a word of encouragement.

She taught me so much about generosity, not just in material ways, but in spirit. Her life was a testament to the power of simple, consistent acts of love. And though we’ll all miss her deeply, I’ll carry her memory with me in every birthday card I send, in every moment of kindness I can offer to someone else. She was truly one of a kind, and I’m so grateful to have been loved by her.

  3. Sheryl was my next door neighbor when we went to North High! Fond memories of her! She taught me how to twirl a baton and how to march with it! Good old days!

  4. Sheryl was a classmate of mine at North. She always seemed upbeat & open. I have no doubt she is baton twirling up in heaven.

  5. I’ve always enjoyed spending time with Sheryl whenever we’d visit Wichita. She was always very kind and attentive. My three daughters and I have fond memories of visiting the Mitchells. When my girls were younger they remember Sheryl treating them to ice cream, having plenty of toys in her house and being such a good grandma to Lauren, Max and Lily. She was a woman who showed great love and affection for her family.
We were all blessed to know her and will greatly miss Aunt Sheryl.
