  1. I learned to know Tom in 1999 as I was beginning my career of self-employment. I felt I needed some life insurance and was referred to Tom. I believe that ever since then I’ve eaten breakfast with him at Cracker Barrel or lunch with him in his office (sandwich from Toni D’s) every three or four months. Tom was a genuine person – truly interested in what was going on with your life. He wasn’t phony. He was the real deal. I appreciated that very much – and I believe we had a mutual respect for each other because I strive to be the same way. I even had the opportunity to go fishing with Tom on two different occasions. We fished a little farm pond North of Walton and both times caught very nice largemouth bass. It was always nice to see Tom’s eyes light up when he was talking about a recent fishing trip or trip to the Ozarks with Kathy. I will miss Tom. It took the air out of me when I learned he had died. Between the church choir, fishing, photography, riding his motorcycle, and attending his niece’s and nephews’ sporting events he kept busy and lived a rich and fulfilling life. I believe that Tom knew that the art of life wasn’t just living, it was living well. God bless you and comfort you through this difficult time. My family’s thoughts and prayers are with you.

  2. I have to agree with what Fred Waymire said in his tribute to Tom, that Tom was a great friend. Tom and I had many breakfasts together at the Cracker Barrel and all the servers knew him well and would come to the table and visit as friends with Tom. They even set aside a special corner booth for him as his ‘breakfast office’. I spent many hours fishing with Tom and I always have been struck with the genuine concern he had for the clients he had as a Financial Consultant. He would tear up as he told me of some of the concerns he had for them when they were experiancing illness or death in their family. To have known Tom in any way is a priveledge not to be taken lightly. There are many fine Financial Counselers, but none have a more genuine concern and interest in the people they served than what Tom did. He put into practice what Christ said was the most important thing for Christians to do,to serve others in his name. How great a comfort to know that Tom is in the presence of our Lord and Savior for all eternity.

  3. Dear Kathy, Just want to express my deep sympathy to you and your family in your loss of Tom. I read his obituary in the paper and wanted to let you know I am thinking of you. I am so sorry in your loss. I hope you are doing OK. In my prayers, Mary Vanlandingham Kingman,KS

  4. Tom was a good friend. The type of friend that treated you like you had just talk with him a few minutes earlier even if you hadn’t seen him for a long time. He really care about people. He will be miss. My prayer for comfort goes to all his family and friends. God bless you.
