Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. My sister, brother and I want to express our deepest sympathies for the loss of a dear lady. We all attended Kos Harris Elementary School in the late 50’s & early 60’s and had Mrs. Stewart as our kindergarten teacher. We all remember her well and truly enjoyed our time in her class. We still remember to this day, Mrs. Stewart asking us to get our rugs out of our cubbies for quiet time each afternoon! May her memory be eternal!

  2. My kindergarten teacher was Ms. Stewart and made an impression on me. I was a very shy little girl when I started school but in about 2 weeks I was playing and talking with the other children. I attended Woodland Elementary School Sept 1950 thru 1953. I am 60 years old now and still remember her today. Our class picture is in my ‘Baby Book’ and she wrote all the class members’ names on the back of the photo. She was one of my favortie teachers. In my heart, I will miss her. Your family is in my prayers.

  3. To the Family of Virginia Stewart: She was my kindergarten teacher at Kos Harris, and a wonderful, warm lady. I still have a picture of me in her kindergarten classroom (I can’t believe she allowed a skunk into the room for ‘show and tell’). In her classroom, we had ‘nap time’ on little floor rugs after cookies and milk, but she was also a firm instructor, and I credit her for putting me on the road to success. I actually saw her a few times at Larksfield Place after she moved there (where my deceased father lived), and took her the pictures of the ‘skunk in the classroom’. I think she was tickled! I am so sorry to hear of your loss of this very classy lady. She will be remembered.

  4. Mrs. Stewart was a wonderful teacher whose class was welcoming and creative. Her gift of the silhouette portraits of myself and my sister are still on the wall at my mother’s home. I remember her tracing carefully, one after another, using the bright light of the opaque projector. Her hand then revealed the contour and detail, even an eyelash, bringing it to completion. It was a gift also to our parents, and an affirmation. Of course another highlight was the day of finger painting – watching with anticipation as she mixed the emulsion out on the wax paper. I still think fondly of many of my classmates from our class. May God bless you, Mrs. Stewart. You gave us much love. (My sister, I am sure, feels the same.)
