Wanda Lee Alford James Gumfory

Gumfory, Wanda Lee Alford James, 81, beloved sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2011. Visitation with the family will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 2 with funeral service following at 2:00 p.m., both at Downing and Lahey East Mortuary. Graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 5 at Maple Grove Cemetery. Wanda was Past President of the Twentieth Century Club. She was a member of Boeing Strato-Singers, Helianthus, Thursday Afternoon Music Club, WAWS, Red Hat Club, P.E.O., Knife and Fork Club and Fortnightly Book Club. Wanda volunteered at Music Theater, Wichita Symphony and Wichita Grand Opera. Preceded in death by husband J. M. “Jim” Gumfory, parents, George Towns and Betty Lou Vaughn Alford, sister, Lucille Hohler and brothers, Marshall Alford, LeRoy Alford and Martin Alford.. Surviving Wanda: sister, Mrs. Dorothy Marie Easley of Simms, TX; daughters, Laura Anne Brown (Kerry) of Wichita; Marsha Lee Fahey of Anamosa, IA and Linda Kay Birmingham of Tacoma, WA; sons, Larry Steven James (Pat) of Frederick, MD and Lyle David Gumfory (Liz) of Haysville, KS; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
