Randall A. Bane

Randall A. "Randy" "Chappy" Bane, 69, retired hospital chaplain & minister with the Christian Church Disciples of Christ, substance abuse counselor, Vietnam Veteran, and local Tai Chi instructor died May 3, 2016 from complications of pneumonia. Celebration of Life Service, Saturday July 23, 2016, 1:00 pm, University United Methodist Church, 2220 N. Yale, Wichita KS. Born Dec. 13, 1946 to Alfred & Glenna Bane in Indianapolis IN. He served the US Army, NATO Special Forces and US Air Force Civil Air Patrol. Attended K-State, Hutchinson CC, Wichita State and Princeton Theological Seminary earning a Masters of Divinity. He met his love Susan Crawshaw in January 2000 and they married on June 26, 2004. Together they started his nonprofit Kansas Soldier Foundation, he served as State Chaplain of Vietnam Veterans of America, participated with the Patriot Guard, past member of American Legion Post 401, and Sedgwick County Nonprofit Chamber. He was 26 years sober and very involved in AA. Above all else, he loved a good strong cup of coffee, a "puff" and good friends to hang out with. Proceeded in death by his parents and 3 rescue dogs: Meko, Chi and Buddy. Survivors include: wife, Susan Bane; mother-in-law, Mary Crawshaw; beloved dog, Sage; cousin, Vickie (Tom) Hill of Kansas City; cousin, Patty McCauley of Indianapolis IN; many cousins by marriage and loved by many friends. In lieu of flowers memorial established with Kansas Humane Society.
