James P. "Jim" Rome

James P. Rome (Jim), 67, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 25, 2023, in Kansas City, MO after a brief stay at St. Luke’s Hospice House. He was born the youngest of five siblings to Charles and Isabel Rome on June 2, 1955, in Hoisington, Kansas. Jim was a proud graduate of Bishop Carroll High School in Wichita, KS and studied at Benedictine College in Atchison, KS. He dedicated his 30-year career to Boeing as a Software Integration Quality Compliance Specialist for the B-1B, a role that combined well his love of aircraft and innovation with a strong set of principles. Jim enjoyed time spent outdoors on the lake, riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and wilderness hunting. His Oklahoma home was a favorite spot to catch an old movie, cheer on OU and the Chiefs, and listen to classic rock and blues with his dog Rocky resting at his feet. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Charles E. Rome; mother, Isabel Rome; and sister, Coralie Rome. He leaves behind brothers, Charlie and his wife Lorrie Rome; Eugene (Atif) Rome; and sister, Cheryl Wells. The lives of nieces, nephew-in-laws, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, and many lifelong friends have been enriched by Jim’s love, support and sense of humor. A Rosary will be held on Tuesday, March 7, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 861 N Socora St, Wichita, KS, followed by Mass at 10:30 a.m. A graveside burial service will immediately follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
