Suzanne Gayle Koch

Suzanne Gayle Koch, 82, passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2026.

Her memorial Service will be at 4pm on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Reformation Lutheran Church.

Suzanne was dedicated to promoting education in everything she did, throughout her life.

As a teacher and librarian at public middle schools and high schools across Wichita, Suzanne shared her love of reading with students of all ages, whether through fiction or non-fiction, enjoyable stories or important research. She would later be delighted when those students recognized her in shops and restaurants, sharing the paths their lives had taken since leaving her library.

Post-retirement, her own path led to the Assistance League, where she received the Anne Banning Leadership Award for making a significant impact through volunteering. She took part in programs benefitting families in the local community, including helping students achieve their goals through higher education. After serving as president of Assistance League Wichita (ALW) twice, she spent the latter days her life working at the volunteer-run Assistance League thrift shop.

Suzanne is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Geraldine Hoover; husband, Clarence Koch. She is survived by her children, Jeff (Katherine) Koch, Josh (Stacy) Koch, Gretchen Koch; grandchildren, Max, Ainsley, Emily (Ethan), Elliott.
