George Barry West, 88, died on Sunday, July 19, 2026, with his wife and daughters by his side.

He was born in Rochester, New York in 1938, the son of Gertrude Barry West and George Lee West.  He graduated from Notre Dame in 1960 and carried that Irish pride throughout his life.  After college, Barry married his college sweetheart, Joyce, served his country for four years in the Army, and created a beautiful life for 39 years with their two daughters.  After the passing of his first wife, Barry was twice blessed to find love with Kathy, adding three sons to his family and recently celebrated 25 years of marriage.

Barry was a successful real estate broker/owner and served on numerous board of directors including American Red Cross, Catholic Charities, Heartspring, and St. Francis Hospital.  He loved golf, exercising, daily mass, and his Catholic faith. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and showed his love through actions, daily prayers, and taking an interest in those he encountered.

Barry is survived by his wife, Kathy Ruane Struble West, and her sons, Michael (Christina Bresani), Timothy (Lori Beth), Matthew (Andrea Paton Ash) Struble; his daughters Lesley Hayter (Mark) and Amy Cameron (Bryan); grandchildren, Katelyn Hayter Gammon, Keara Hayter, Austin Reyes Mahler, Tyler and Morgan Cameron, Houston Edwards, Easton, Auden, Hunter, Hagen, and Henley Struble; great-grandchildren, Zaelah and Stellah Hayter, Jace Cameron.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Barry was a light in everyone’s life.
May your light continue to shine in heaven, and shine brightly with all the heavenly angels.

  2. Kathy and family, what a special man Barry was! It was my pleasure to get to know him when he served on the Catholic Charities Board. Through his leadership we were able to successfully complete our first ever Capital Campaign, allowing us to replace two shelters. His kind spirit, energy and relentless dedication will live in my memory forever. He truly was one of the finest people I was ever blessed with meeting. I wish you all deep peace amidst the loss…his legacy will shine brightly into eternity!
